The adventure continues.....

We just returned from the first of many “visa trips” we will take to Estonia. Russian law allows foreigners 90 day visas, which means they have to be renewed every 90 days – at this time, only in the embassy in Estonia. For many missionaries, it is a one day trip, but for us in the Russian Far East, it takes a long time. Because we had a humanitarian conference in Bulgaria just a week later, we were advised to just stay in Estonia for an extra few days, then fly to Bulgaria. We took advantage of the extra time and took a side trip to Helsinki Finland to visit the temple, as we really don’t know when we will be able to go again. Those in our branch who go typically save for a year to be able to go to Seoul on the temple trip. One sister in our branch goes every year….but it requires her to take on two jobs working 6 days a week. It is a big sacrifice but there is much faith…and not many new clothes. We were grateful for that opportunity to go – it is a gorgeous temple inside. It is a beautiful country, with lots of trees and rocks, water and islands. There are so many small rocky islands out in the sea near there, that they have tiny little lighthouses on them. The ship that took us there was fun – it was a bit cold on the deck, but there were comfortable rooms, restaurants, stores, etc. inside. Many of the people in Finland speak English (along with 3 or 4 other languages as well), so it was easy to get around…..

I bet it was nice to speak your own language with someone again. It looks very pretty! Why are there so many islands? Was your session in English?
